Opening the key
- Insert a flathead screwdriver or other small flat tool into the small recess on the back of the to pry off the top part from the bottom part.

Opening the bottom section
- With the bottom section you have now, open it. No tool is needed, just pull the two parts apart which are hinged like a door. (I.e. separate one side first, followed by the opposite side.)

Removing the battery
- Now with your opened key take the part with battery and push back one of the clips that is holding it down. When the clip is pushed back, this should allow you to tip up the battery and for it to be taken out that side.
- Note, the clip has quite a bit of resistance. Don't worry, it is designed to be this way and you'll need to apply a bit of slow, even, pressure.

Inserting the new battery
- Now that the old battery is out, to insert your new battery push back with a tool on one of the clips to give space, then slide it in.
- Make sure the battery has postive side facing up. The battery when I opened my key was a CR2032.

Closing the key
- Take the two separate bottom parts and hinge them back together (one side first).
- Slide the top part of the key back onto the closed bottom parts to seal the whole key.
- Congratulations, you've finished!
