Fourth Generation (2011 - 2017) Honda Odyssey Engine Air Filter Replacement

The following instructions describe how to perform the replacement of an engine air filter on a fourth-generation Honda Odyssey. The engine air filter collects dirt and debris in order to prevent it from entering the engine and requires replacement after a certain amount of time. Before attempting this task, be sure to allow the vehicle to cool down to avoid getting burned.

  • Pull out the hood release in the driver's footwell to pop open the hood.

  • Release the hood latch to lift the hood.
  • To avoid difficulty finding the latch, search near the center of the hood.

  • Position hood prop rod into the support hole.
  • Hoods are heavy and the securement of the prop rod is necessary to prevent injury.

  • Unlatch the three clips securing the engine air filter cover. (The third clip can't be seen in the photo but is on the other side of the cover.)
  • Be sure to allow the vehicle to cool down before working in the engine bay.

  • Gently remove the air filter cover.

  • Remove the filter by simply pulling it out of the filter compartment.
