Dodge Durango 2004 Tail Light Bulb Replacement

If one of the tail lights in your 2004 Dodge Durango is not lighting up, you may need to replace the bulb inside. A faulty bulb may result in a costly fine or an accident on the road, as tail lights are essential for signaling other vehicles. Before trying this guide, first check if the car’s battery is fully charged and functional.

Make sure the car’s engine is off, the parking brake is engaged, and the battery is disconnected before beginning this guide.

  • Open the car's trunk.

  • Pry both caps out using a spudger.

  • Carefully pull the tail light towards yourself to gain access to the wiring.
  • Do not pull the tail light too far. It is still connected to the wires and moving it too far may damage them.

  • Locate the connector and pull the orange safety pin out.
  • After the safety pin is out, pull on the connector plug to separate it from the tail light.

  • Remove the three Torx 15 screws that are holding the bulb carrier in place.

  • Remove the bulb holder piece from the tail light by gently pulling it up.

  • Remove the defective bulb by pulling it up.
