The purpose of a tail/ brake light is to make your car visible during nighttime and heavy weather conditions and to communicate to the driver behind you that you are slowing down or stopping. A broken tail/ brake light is dangerous to yourself and the drivers around you. You could also get pulled over and receive a citation if your tail light is out.
Before beginning the repair, park in a safe location, turn the car off and put the emergency brake on.

Step-by-step instructions

- Use the 3/16 inch flathead screwdriver to remove the top fender clip holding the tail light on.

- Remove the lower fender clip.
- This will release the tail light so be careful.

- Remove the tail light to expose the light bulb.

- Twist the light bulb to remove it from the holder.
- Replace the old bulb with the new one. make sure to twist the new bulb to secure it.
- Do not touch the new light bulb with your bare hands as the oil from your fingers will cause it to degrade faster and possibly shatter.

- Align the two pegs on the tail light housing with the matching holes on the car.

- Reinsert the top and bottom fender clips.
