2010-2014 BMW X3 F25 LED Driver Tail Light Board Replacement

If your BMW X3 tail lights LEDs do not work at night, use this guide to see how an easy fix can solve the issue!

The LED components use a small circuit board (F25 LED Driver) which controls the lights. If these malfunction, it stops the LEDs from lighting up. Just a swap of these circuit board chips can solve the issue.

This guide requires you to order this circuit board in advance. Be sure to turn the vehicle off before starting the repair.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Open the trunk to get behind the taillight. Pop open the plastic cover from behind the light.

  • Unclip the wire for the entire component.

  • Using socket-wrench, unscrew and remove the only visible bolt.

  • Remove and place component in safe place.

  • Unplug the only wire running into the circuit board chip.

  • Swap out the malfunctioned board and pop back in the new circuit board chip.

  • Plug wire back into the board.

  • Line the taillights tabs back up and follow steps 1-3 in reverse order.
