Mazda Miata Blower motor Replacement

A common problem in Miata AC systems is that leaves and other debris enters the air blower. This obstruction causes unpleasant noise in the cabin and decreases air flowrate. This guide will show how to remove and empty the blower motor of debris

  • The blower motor is located underneath the passenger side glove box.

  • 3 screws fasten the motor housing to the system. These screws can be removed with a flathead screwdriver.
  • Use the flathead screwdriver to remove all 3 screws from the housing.
  • Remove the rear screw first for easier disassembly.

  • Squeeze both sides of the plug, and pull firmly. The plug should slide out with minimal force.
  • A flathead screwdriver can be used to depress the tab if the plug is difficult to remove.

  • Pull the blower motor assembly out of the housing and clear any debris.
