Seat ATECA, simple improvements and tips for the wheel wrench and the bolt cover removal tool.

Step-by-step instructions

  • As with most vehicles, the wheel removal wrench is very thin and short, which requires more effort to remove the wheel.

  • One option is to use a cross wrench; it works quite well and allows for better force distribution. I keep both in my vehicle.

  • In other vehicles, I have occasionally used a plumbing pipe to extend the handle, but since it is prohibited and illegal to carry it in the car, I have looked for another option using PVC plastic.
  • Option: Use PVC H-pipe, the type used in electrical installations, specifically H25 pipe + H32 pipe.

  • By inserting a 25 mm H-tube inside a 32 mm H-tube, we get a reinforced, thick handle that allows us to hold the tool comfortably and use less effort.

  • Since the diameter of the 25 mm pipe is smaller than the inner diameter of the 32 mm pipe, you need to wrap a few turns of electrical tape around the 25 mm pipe to increase its diameter so that it does not move inside the 32 mm pipe.

  • Inserting the H25 conduit inside the H32 conduit.
  • 2 conduit sizes, widely used by electricians for exposed wall installations.

  • Another improvement that occurred to me refers to the wheel bolt cap removal tool.
  • The tool is black, inserted into a black styrofoam holder in the vehicle's trunk, where we often have poor lighting when dealing with a flat tire at night on the road.
  • 1st: We may have trouble easily locating the tool due to the low light.
  • 2nd: If we leave the tool on the ground on the road during a nighttime breakdown, we could forget it or lose it quite easily.

  • I thought that the solution to avoid losing it is extremely simple and cheap; it is enough to attach a fabric tape or ribbon 30 cm or longer in a bright color to the clamp.

  • Photo 2: View of the clip with the loop, to make it easier to locate.
