1999-2007 Chevrolet Silverado Brake/Taillight Replacement

In this guild you will learn how to fix/replace your taillight on your Chevy Silverado truck. Often times, a taillight will randomly go out just from use or possible damage. Here is a quick 5 min fix showing you how do get the job done, save you a little money, and not go to the auto-shop to get it fixed.

The only tool needed for this fix will be a Philips head 2x100mm screwdriver.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the top and bottom screws that are in line with the tailgate.

  • Remove the taillight from housing.

  • Do a quarter twist to unlock damaged light.
  • You should feel the light housing stop once you unlock it.

  • Pull out the light from the housing

  • Remove the bulb from the socket.

  • Put in the new light.

  • Put the light and connection back in place and turn it back to the lock position.

  • Place the whole light back to where the screw holes on the tailgate side line up

  • Reinsert the screws and tighten until the taillight is secure.
