Pull the Hood Release Lever

  • Pull the hood release lever in the driverside footwell.

Locate the Filter Box

  • Locate the cabin air filter box inside the engine compartment.

Remove the Cabin Air Filter

  • Remove the cabin air filter by pulling it out towards yourself.
  • When installing the new filter, it is important to install it the right way around, with the arrows on its side pointing downwards.
  • You might want to write the current date and mileage on the side of the new filter with a permanent marker. This makes it easier to keep track of replacement cycles.

Open the Hood

  • Raise the hood by simultaneously lifting up and pressing the hood latch release, located beneath the front edge of the hood, near the center.

Open the Filter Box

  • Remove the cover by simultaneously pressing down on the release latch and pulling the cover left and out.

Secure the Hood with the Prop Rod

  • Use one hand to hold the hood open temporarily while securing the hood with the prop rod:
  • Lift one end of the prop rod up or out to release it from the front area of the engine bay.
  • Swing the end of the prop rod up and slide it into the cutout on the underside of the hood.
  • Make sure the hood is well secured before you let go with your other hand, or it may fall and injure you.
