2019 GMC Acadia Headlight Replacement

If your headlamps on your 2019 GMC Acadia are dimmer than usual, flickering on and off or do not turn on, use this guide to replace the headlamp bulb(s).

The headlamps are responsible for providing illumination for high and low-beam functions, ensuring visibility, and safety during nighttime driving.

Before using this guide, make sure that the headlamp malfunction is not due to any of the following:

Be sure that you have thoroughly followed the steps of each malfunction resolution to the listed headlamp issues to confirm that the problem is a faulty bulb.

Before beginning, make sure that you avoid touching the bulb with your naked hands or fingers to prevent getting oils on the bulb that will potentially damage it or shorten its lifespan. The replacement process is identical on both sides.

Step-by-step instructions

Access the bulb housing by lifting the hood of the car.
The bulb is behind the headlamp in the interior of the engine compartment.

Reach into the opening for the domed cap.

Grip the base of the bulb with your thumb and forefinger.
Twist the socket counterclockwise.
Once turned, pull the bulb straight back out of the socket.

Detach the bulb from the socket cord.
Release the locking clip from the socket cord and the bulb.
Gently pull the socket cord from the bulb.

Install the new bulb.
***WARNING:*** Do not touch the new bulb with your bare fingers. Oil from your hands will damage the bulb and shorten its lifespan.
Optional: Wear gloves when handling the lightbulb.
Line up the lock to make sure it attaches properly.
