Lexus CT200h Spark Plugs Replacement

This guide demonstrates how to replace the spark plugs in a 2014 Lexus CT200h. It may also be applicable to other model years in the same generation (2011–2017).

Replacing the spark plugs are really important as it ensures that your engine is running smoothly.

Before beginning the repair, shift it into park and turn off the vehicle.

  • Use a socket wrench to loosen the terminal bolt.
  • Disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery.

  • Disconnect each of the four spark plug wires by hand.

  • Use a 3/8-inch ratchet with a 10 mm socket or an impact socket ratchet to remove the ignition coil bolts.
  • Pull the four coils out to remove them.

  • Use a 3/8-inch drive ratchet with a 6-inch (or longer) extension and a 14 mm (9/16-inch) thin-wall spark plug socket to loosen the four spark plugs.

  • Once you've loosened the spark plugs, remove them by hand.

  • Insert the new spark plugs and use a 3/8-inch drive ratchet with a 6-inch (or longer) extension and a 14 mm (9/16-inch) thin-wall spark plug socket to tighten them.

  • Insert back the coils and screw the bolts back in place.

  • Reconnect the spark plug wires.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal back in place.
