How to Replace the Cabin Air Filter in a 2020 Mazda CX-30

If you've noticed reduced airflow from your vents, poor cabin air quality, or it's been at least a year since you last replaced your cabin air filter, it's probably time for a new one. This guide will walk you through replacing the cabin air filter in your 2020 Mazda CX-30.

Over time, the cabin air filter collects pollen, dust, leaves, soot, and other airborne debris. As it becomes clogged, it restricts airflow, reduces air quality inside the cabin, and forces your vehicle's HVAC system to work harder.

Replacing the cabin air filter helps maintain your HVAC system, improves airflow, provides cleaner air for you and your passengers, and can even speed up window defogging. An old filter is essentially a wall of dirt; Replacing it regularly helps maintain both comfort and system performance.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Open the glove box by pulling the handle towards the left.
  • Empty all contents to keep the space open for the next steps.

  • Gently pull down on each of the four latches in the upper area of the glove box.
  • Release each latch from right to left for an easy release!
  • Remove the access panel.

  • Pinch the upper and lower tabs on the old filter.
  • Slowly pull out the old filter.
  • Properly dispose of the old filter.

  • Insert the new filter into the open spot until it clicks into place.
  • There is an arrow located on the front of the air filter; ensure that this arrow is facing down for proper airflow!

  • Reinsert the access panel.
  • Gently press down on the four tabs to ensure the access panel is fully closed.

  • Close the glove compartment.
  • You can replace the items you removed in step one.
