2011-2019 Ford Explorer Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Replacing your cabin air filter keeps the air system in your vehicle clean. If you notice decreased air quality or if you haven't had the filter replaced since your last oil change, it may be time to replace your air filter.
Before using this guide, ensure that you have the correct cabin air filter for your vehicle. The part used in this guide is part 90273P from Advanced Auto Parts. Be sure to ask an expert at an auto parts store if you are unsure which air filter to buy.
Before you begin the repair, turn off the engine and park on a flat surface.

Step-by-step instructions

- Pull the glove box stop located on the right side of the glove compartment.
- Pull the cord down at its base and slide it out of the cord's housing.
- Lower the glove compartment until it releases completely from the dashboard.

- Pull the tabs on the cabin air filter access cover toward you.
- Carefully remove the access cover.

- Pull the old filter from the compartment.
- Remove it carefully to avoid spilling dust.
- Throw out the old filter.

- Inspect the filter compartment and remove any debris with a microfiber cloth.
- Failure to properly clean air filter housing could result in reduced lifespan of the replacement air filter.

- Remove the packaging to prepare the new air filter for installation.
- Slide the new air filter into the housing unit with the airflow arrow pointed up.
- Installing the air filter in the incorrect airflow direction may cause issues with the air filtration system.

- Slide the access cover back into place.
- Push the tabs away from you firmly to secure the access cover.
- When the tabs are locked into place you will hear a "click."

- Lift the glove compartment into alignment with the console.
- Pull the glove box stop cord down from inside the console.
- Slide the base of the cord into the clip's housing unit.
- Close the glove compartment.
